SUMMARY:The Painted Turtle - Pinewood Derby Racing
DESCRIPTION:Since 2003 PVCA has supported The Painted Turtle in one way or the other. This year we have been asked to come up and help celebrate the Pinewood Derby races that are part of Hemophilia Week. \nThe folks at The Painted Turtle ( The Painted Turtle ) have invited the club to participant in this year’s pinewood derby races which are part of the camp’s Hemophilia Week.   This week kids with hemophilia and related blood disorders come together and enjoy a chance to be normal kids. \nDuring the week kids will be making their pinewood derby cars to race on the special race track set up in the gym on Friday.  The club will provide trophies for the winners of the race.  Of course the kids love to have us come out\, so they get a chance to see the Corvettes up close and even sit in them.  Of course it is always a guess as to how long will it be before one of the kids find the horn.   🙂 \nOur plan is to meet at 9:15 at Logan’s Roadhouse at Baseline and the 15 Fwy. Driver meeting at 9:25. Leave 9:30 \nFrom there we’ll head up the Fwy 15 then out across the desert (138) to Palmdale then out to the camp at Lake Hughes.   We’ll plan on arriving at the camp about 12:00\, we’ll get the cars parked and then go have lunch at 12L30 with the kids.  And sing along with the kids (singing is optional)\, a few of the camp songs that the kids have learned.   After lunch we’ll do a tour of the camp and then about 2:30 the kids will come down for the races. \nAfter we are all done\, we’ll find a place for dinner if you are up for some more fun with the group.

SUMMARY:San Dimas Holiday Parade
DESCRIPTION:San Dimas is having a Holiday Parade and has requested two cars. \nOne of you will be driving our local State Senator\, Anthony Portintino\,  and the other will be driving the Grand Marshall (whoever that is).  The Historical Society has opted for a jeep. \nThe parade has a new route this year.  We will be starting at Civic Center Park\, just behind City Hall. The park is between First Street on the north and Second Street on the south and Iglesia Street on the west. The best way in is off of Walnut\, which is just east of the park \nThe check-in time is 3:00pm and the parade will start at 4:00pm. The parade route runs from City Hall through the downtown\, about ½ mile.

SUMMARY:The Painted Turtle - Pine Wood Derby Races for Hemophilia Kids
DESCRIPTION:Since 2004 PVCA has been supporting The Painted Turtle http://www.ThePaintedTurtle.org through various events from car shows to night at the races.   For the last few years the club has been helping with the pine wood derby races that the kids at camp have each year.   We have donated trophies and other items to the kids and the camp.   But the main event is we take anywhere from 10 to 12 cars up to the camp and have lunch with the kids and the counselors then we let the kids look at and sit in our cars.  And you can bet they all find the horn sooner or later. \nThis year the camp have asked us back to help again.   We will meet (place to be determined) about 9am then take the ride up to Lake Hughes area where the camp is located.   We’ll have lunch with the kids and enjoy their lunch time activities.    After lunch we’ll get a tour of the camp.  Then head over to our cars so we can open them up during the racing.  We’ll help do some judging of the best design\, etc. \nWe normally finish up about 3:30 and head home. \nPlease save the date and time \nPlease remember no pictures of the kids are allowed\, pictures of the camp and the grounds are permitted \n
