Foothill Blvd\, #100\nClaremont\, 909-399-3300 \nSee the map below \nThere is parking in front of the restaurant and behind the Candlelight Pavilion.  The Manager did suggest (to make matters quicker for our members)\, due to the size of our group\, paying cash would help. Apparently there are issues if they try to run too many cards at once. \nPlease sign up so we can give them a head count before we show up\, this is important so the restaurant can properly staff for the size of our group. \nThanks Jody & Henry for getting this all set up.

SUMMARY:Irwindale Night at the Races
DESCRIPTION:The first of two nights that the club is invited to Irwindale Speedway for a night of races.   We will need to be there at 3:30.  Park to the right side of main entrance\, by the Main Grandstands.  when you enter the parking lot tell the people at the gate that you are there as part of the car club group.  About 4pm all the cars there for the races as part of the car club group will be taken around to the parking on the west side of the grandstands.   About 7pm  you’ll be escorted to the back of the track and then you’ll do a parade lap.   After the parade lap you will come back to the parking area west of the grandstands and then it is up to the grandstands to watch the races\, which will end about 10pm. \nThere is time to eat before we go on the track\, no alcohol if you plan on driving on the track.  the various snack bars open about 4:30 or 5:00.   Feel free to bring snacks or drinks (again no alcohol).   A folding chair is not a bad idea.

SUMMARY:The Painted Turtle - Pinewood Derby Races
DESCRIPTION:The folks at The Painted Turtle ( The Painted Turtle ) have invited the club to participant in this year’s pinewood derby races which are part of the camp’s Hemophilia Week.   This week kids with hemophilia and related blood disorders come together and enjoy a chance to be normal kids. \nDuring the kids will be making their pinewood derby cars to race on the special race track set up in the gym on Saturday.  The club will provide trophies for the winners of the race.  Of course the kids love to have us come out\, so they get a chance to see the Corvettes up close and even sit in them.  Of course it is always a guess as to how long will it be before one of the kids find the horn.   🙂 \nSo we’ll meet at Logan’s Roadhouse at Baseline and the 15 Fwy at 9:30 am\, drivers meeting at 9:45 am and then head out.  From there we’ll head up the Fwy 15 then out across the desert (138) to Palmdale then out to the camp at Lake Hughes.   We’ll plan on arriving at the camp about 11:45\, we’ll get the cars parked and then go have lunch with the kids.  And sing along with the kids (singing is optional)\, a few of the camp songs that the kids have learned.   After lunch we’ll do a tour of the camp and then about 2:30 the kids will come down for the races. \nThis is a special place where kids with some serious disorders get a chance to just have fun.   The club has been supporting the camp since 2003\, actually the year before it opened. \nAfter we are all done\, we’ll find a place for dinner if you are up for some more fun with the group.
