SUMMARY:Cambria Wine Run
DESCRIPTION:For those of you who would like to tour some of the wineries of Cambria and Paso Robles\, there will be a wine run Saturday\, November 10th.  We will meet in the motel parking lot at 10:00 am and hit the road shortly thereafter.  We will visit three wineries.  Two have been confirmed.  They are Chateau Margene (www.chateaumargene.com) and Tobin James (www.tobinjames.com).   You can check out their websites for more details.  Both of these are on the east side of Paso Robles and should be a lot of fun.   The third winery is a small\, family owned winery operated by good friends of John Schembari who is putting that one together.  We will have lunch in Paso Robles at the Firestone Taproom Restaurant.  Firestone Brewing makes the 805 brand of beer so those of you that prefer beer over wine\, here’s your chance.  Most wineries charge a tasting fee of about $20\, but couples can share a tasting and I recommend that approach.  For groups\, they like to have the fee paid upfront.  Once I have the amounts I will let you know and I will collect the fee before we leave the motel.   If you just want to go along for the ride\, you are more than welcome.

DESCRIPTION:The Cambria Weekend is all set.  We will leave Friday\, November 9th from the Lowes parking lot near the Arrow Hwy offramp from the 57 freeway in San Dimas.  There is a McDonalds right there for coffee\, breakfast\, or other necessities.  Driver’s meeting at 9:15 and on the road by 9:30. We will make our traditional stop at the McDonalds in Fillmore and then onto Ventura Harbor for a long\, leisurely lunch.  There are several restaurants to choose from for your dining pleasure.  Then back on the road to Cambria.  I have made arrangements at the Fireside Inn on Moonstone Beach (this is where most of us stayed last time).  The rates are as follows; \nTraditional Room              $185 per night\nRoom with patio                $205 per night\nRoom with a partial view   $225 per night\nRoom with ocean view       $285 per night \nThey can be reached at (805) 927-8661.  Just tell them that you are with Pomona Valley Corvettes to get these rates.  Should you have any issues\, the manager’s name is Karen. They will hold the block of rooms until October 10th\, after that you will pay the normal rates and no guarantees that rooms will be available.  You can cancel your reservation up to 14 days prior (October 25th).  There are several other hotels available on Moonstone Beach and you can make other arrangements if you so desire.  Friday dinner is on your own.  There are two really good restaurants right on Moonstone Beach and several more in town.  We will do our winery tours on Saturday and then we will have a group dinner at McPhee’s Grill in Templeton.  We have gone to McPhees the past two Cambria Runs.  Highway 1 is supposed to re-open sometime this summer\, so I am planning a Sunday run to Big Sur with lunch at the Nepenthe restaurant.  This restaurant is perched on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean and their food is outstanding.  Everyone is on their own for getting home.  The rooms and rates are good for Friday thru Sunday with check out on Monday\, but please feel free to take off on Sunday if you need to be home for Veterans Day.  As David firms up the activities\, we will post separate event pages to the website so that we can get head counts.  There are plenty of other exciting ways to spend your weekend so if you want to go off on your own have at it.

Wilson HS has been a long time supporter of the PVCA in using our Corvettes for there Homecoming games so it will be good to be back with them again this year. \nWe will pre-stage in the Puente Hills Mall parking lot behind the Jimmy John’s restaurant at 6:30pm\, drivers meeting at 6:45pm\, then proceed to the school to arrive at 7:00pm.\nDirection:  Take the 60 freeway west and exit on Azusa Ave.\n            Turn left on Azusa Ave. and go to the second signal\,\n            Pepper Brook Way.\n            Turn left into the Puente Hills Mall parking lot and park in the\n            mall’s lot behind the Jimmy John’s restaurant. \nAfter the game if you would like to get a bite to eat we can go to Frisco’s on Gail Ave. \nSo once Doug has put this event on the calendar please sign up and let’s have a fun evening with Wilson HS at there Homecoming game. DESCRIPTION:Hot Air Balloon Museum is located at the end of the Fiesta Field. Its really beautiful\, lots of fun photo shoots inside. We will be on the upper level for a great view of the Glodeo and Fireworks. Great balcony outside for viewing as well.  Event starts at 4pm.  Our tickets include dinner\, parking\, museum admission\, complementary shuttle to the field\, 10% discounts at the museum.   We will have 4 reserved tables for our group.  We have locked in the fees at $65.00 per person. \n$40.00 Deposit (per couple) is due no later than Feb 1st (not refundable).  Balance  $90.00 (per couple) is due no later than July 20th. \nThis event sells out very quickly every year\, they are already doing several contracts as the schedule is out.   The price is locked in at $65.00 because we are booking now.
