SUMMARY:PAINTED TURTLE PINEWOOD DERBY DAY
DESCRIPTION:WEDNESDAY\, JULY 23\, 2025\n9:15 AM-5 PM\nLET’S SHOW OFF OUR CORVETTES AND ENJOY PINEWOOD DERBY RACES\n\nSince 2003 PVCA has supported The Painted Turtle in one way or the other. This year we have been asked to come up and help celebrate the Pinewood Derby races that are part of Hemophilia Week.\nThe folks at The Painted Turtle have invited the club to participant in this year’s pinewood derby races which are part of the camp’s Hemophilia Week.   This week kids with hemophilia and related blood disorders come together and enjoy a chance to be normal kids.\nDuring the week kids will be making their pinewood derby cars to race on the special racetrack set up in the gym on Wednesday.  The club will provide trophies for the winners of the race.  Of course\, the kids love to have us come out\, so they get a chance to see the Corvettes up close and even sit in them.  Of course\, it is always a guess as to how long it will be before one of the kids find the horn.\nOur plan is to meet at 9:15 at Logan’s Roadhouse at Baseline and the 15 Fwy. Driver meeting at 9:25. Leave 9:30\nFrom there we’ll head up the Fwy 15 then out across the desert (138) to Palmdale then out to the camp at Lake Hughes.   We’ll plan on arriving at the camp about 12:00\, we’ll get the cars parked and then go have lunch at 12:30 with the kids.  And sing along with the kids (singing is optional)\, a few of the camp songs that the kids have learned.   After lunch we’ll do a tour of the camp and then about 2:30 the kids will come down for the races.\nAfter we are all done\, we’ll find a place for dinner if you are up for some more fun with the group.\nSchedule of events for the day: \nDate: Wednesday\, July 23rd 12:30 – 4:30 PM \n\n12:30 PM – Lunch\n1:30 PM – Camp tour\, shirt distribution\, and car prep\n3:00 PM – Pinewood Derby Race begins!\n4:30 PM – End of derby and departure\n\nEveryone in the group will need to fill out our visitor release form before arrival. Please click here for the link to TPT’s Visitor Release Form. TPT does require that all Visitors are feeling well with no symptoms of illness and attest to having received the following immunizations: \n\nDTap or Tdap vaccine within the past 10 years\nMMR (2 doses)\nVarivax/Varicella (2 doses) or history of chicken pox disease

The program supports the mission of the Disabled Veteran Empowerment Network (DVEN) https://vetsrally4vets.com | www.dven.org\n\nTHE MISSION DVEN’s mission is to identify veteran organizations that are providing genuine support to the veteran community and provide monetary support to those programs.\n\nTHE VISION To make a meaningful difference in the lives of our Nation’s disabled veteran community by providing information and resources to increase their safety and independence and to enable them to have the best possible quality of life. Over 6\,000 veterans and active-duty personnel take their own lives every year – that’s 20 lives every day. Almost one veteran lost every hour of every day. The Department of Defense conducts inter-Service sports competition in 23 sports\, from archery to wrestling\, but not in motorsports. The Rally4Vets Top Dog Championship program is the opportunity for veterans\, active-duty personnel\, family members\, and just friends of a Service to come together in a friendly\, low-risk environment to compete over the course of the year for bragging rights [Army-Navy football\, right?] and to have their Service inscribed on the DVEN Top Dog Trophy.\n\nCONNECTING THE DOTS Our goal is twofold… To use the motorsports platform to do our best to mitigate Veterans suffering from PTSD by providing them with service dogs to help with day-to-day life. Create ambassadors to continue to drive awareness towards the cause of Veterans suffering from PTSD. It is our goal to raise monies from our motorsport’s events\, wellness events and sponsorships in order to fully fund service dogs going to Veterans.\n\nWe hope to see you at our Cars + Camo LA Event on Sunday\, September 18\, 2022\, at the USS Iowa in San Pedro!!!\n\n\n\n \n\n

SUMMARY:The Painted Turtle - Pinewood Derby Races
DESCRIPTION:The folks at The Painted Turtle ( The Painted Turtle ) have invited the club to participant in this year’s pinewood derby races which are part of the camp’s Hemophilia Week.   This week kids with hemophilia and related blood disorders come together and enjoy a chance to be normal kids. \nDuring the kids will be making their pinewood derby cars to race on the special race track set up in the gym on Saturday.  The club will provide trophies for the winners of the race.  Of course the kids love to have us come out\, so they get a chance to see the Corvettes up close and even sit in them.  Of course it is always a guess as to how long will it be before one of the kids find the horn.   🙂 \nSo we’ll meet at Logan’s Roadhouse at Baseline and the 15 Fwy at 9:30 am\, drivers meeting at 9:45 am and then head out.  From there we’ll head up the Fwy 15 then out across the desert (138) to Palmdale then out to the camp at Lake Hughes.   We’ll plan on arriving at the camp about 11:45\, we’ll get the cars parked and then go have lunch with the kids.  And sing along with the kids (singing is optional)\, a few of the camp songs that the kids have learned.   After lunch we’ll do a tour of the camp and then about 2:30 the kids will come down for the races. \nThis is a special place where kids with some serious disorders get a chance to just have fun.   The club has been supporting the camp since 2003\, actually the year before it opened. \nAfter we are all done\, we’ll find a place for dinner if you are up for some more fun with the group.
