President Message

Dear Fellow PVCA Members,

November was a very busy month for us with the PVCA Elections, club events, trying to find a new meeting location, trying to find a new Sponsor to replace Richard Hibbard, and also with the beginning of the Holidays.  I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving Holiday with their love ones.  However, November is now over and with just a few weeks left in December for the end of all PVCA events.  I do see daylight out of the tunnel.

Starting off with the Election Committee, I would like to thank Steve Stevens and Robert C. Potter for handling the elections this year.  Congratulations to the new PVCA E-Board for 2012, they are:

Phil Caughey, President
Erika Hernandez, Vice President
Randy Goff, Membership
Roxanne Wittwer, Secretary
Kimberly Bratt, Treasurer
Rosemary Rodriguez, Activities Director
Charlie Lipscomb, NCCC Governor

As for the Homecomings in November, we had the last one at Ganesha H.S.   PVCA is expected to gross $2,400 in Homecomings this year, which is a record breaker, outstanding. Thanks again to David and Kimberly Bratt for all their hard work and dedication with this Chair and everyone else who participated in this program.

November was the last month for the Car of the Year program, chaired by Joe and Erika Hernandez.    The October winner was Randy Goff who won a $25 Gift Certificate to the Olive Garden.  The November inspection was Engine Compartment.  Thank you, Joe and Erika for all of your hard work with this Chair throughout this year.  You are both greatly appreciated.  The winners for 2011 are as follows:

Men’s Car of the Year, Danny Rodriguez
Men’s Hard Charger, Ernie Caraza

Women’s Car of the Year, Kimberly Bratt
Women’s Hard Charger, Pat Esqueda

Our Special 2012 Blast to the Past Committee made more progress in November.  Several runs are already scheduled in the 2012 calendar, please sign up.  You can also now order PVCA club attire with the new 2012 logo from Derek Pulos.  This committee is chaired by Rosemary & Dan Rodriguez and Kevin & Debbie Jones, thank you all for your hard work with this committee.  We will have a lot more news in December.

As you may already know, we lost Richard Hibbard as our Sponsor on November 15th.  Since then, Ron Zurek made contact with Bill Waddingham, VP of Rotolo and arrange for us to meet with Bill.  Paul Cope, Charlie Lipscomb, Kimberly Bratt, Phil Caughey, and myself met with Bill Waddingham-VP, Michael Caposio-GM, and Jim Schultz-Parts & Service Director of Rotolo Chevrolet.  We had a very positive meeting and complete tour of the entire dealership and parted with Bill telling us that they want to be our sponsor.  Debbie Jones also made a good effort to contact Mark Christopher and tried to set up a meeting with them, without success.  Therefore, this E-Board voted to accept Rotolo Chevrolet as our new sponsor and will bring this up to the members for their final approval.  Please be sure to attend Dec 13th general meeting.

Next, the New Meeting Location Committee which consists of Art Ramirez, Barbara Potter, and myself made more progress in November.  We checked out the Pasta Cucina Rustica, an Italian cuisine in La Verne, suggested by Phil Caughey.  This restaurant has possibilities, please take time to visit for lunch or dinner for your own observations.  We now have two possibilities, Joey’s BBQ in Pomona and Pasta Cucina Rustica in La Verne.  If you have any questions or suggestions concerning this task, please contact Art, Barbara, or myself.  We will be reporting the progress of this task via email and not during our meetings at Casa de Salsa.

Lastly, as you may already know, Randy Goff and Gary Stillwell were hospitalized and have now recovered, thank God.  However, Jerry Coble is still hospitalized for broken vertebrates due to a fall.  Ansel Boyce is also very ill.  Let’s keep Jerry, Ansel, and all of our members with illnesses in our prayers for speedy recoveries.

Regards,
Ernie Caraza
PVCA President

I’m a long time friend of Ansel Boyce, but have not been able to get an update on his status. If anybody could shed some light on this I would be grateful. Dick White. He was best man in my wedding 47 years ago.

I was a long time old member in the late 70′s for 20 years and was just wondering if there is any other old time member’s in the NEW PVCA? Jeff Butler sounds fimilar..Also please give my deepest sympathy to Georgia Coble of Jerry’s passing..I remember them in the time that I was in the Pomona Valley Corvette club, kinda on the tail end. Can’t believe that PVCA has been around for 50th years and at one time I was a part of this club. Congratulation for still being around! My Corvette is retired now and sit’s in the garage covered up. When I was in this club I showed it all the time. I got it in 1977 and drove it for 6 months than it was taken off the streets to starts fixing it for the shows. It has only 67,000 miles on it and to me it is my baby. Don’t know if any one now would remember my corvette, as everyone has the newer ones. It is Candy Apple Red and the engine and under carriage is chome. Something I guess back in the 70′s was popular. Well, just wanted to take the time to email to see if any old member’s was still in the club. Take care! And go Corvette’s!!
Oh I got this website from one of your member’s that she said had 2 red Corvette’s, we were at a Estate Sale in Rancho Cucumonga on Thursday March 29, 2012. And for some reason Corvette’s came up in our talk. I didn’t get her name but I’m sure you know who she is! Please tell her THANKS for sharing!
    Sincerely,
    Rosemarie Carpenter
