CHIPS For Kids toy drive

Hello everyone,

Today, a small group of us, attended the CHIPS For Kids toy drive at CBS Studio City Broadcast Center in Studio City.  Barbara Potter was invited by CHP Officer Donnell L. Holmes to bring only four Corvettes to CBS to delivery our check for $882 to CHIPS For Kids.  The PVCA members in attendance were Barbara Potter, Randy & Glenda Goff, Steve & Karen Stevens, David & Kimberly Bratt, and myself.  We finally got our 15 seconds of fame in the morning news.  My words were, “I’m Ernie Caraza, President of the Pomona Valley Corvette Association, we are here to present this check for $882 to the CHIPS For Kids fundraiser”.

It was our pleasure to meet Steve Mauldin, President and GM of CBS, Kent Shocknek, Anchor of CBS Morning News, and CHP Officer Donnell L. Holmes, whom we met before.  Donnell gave us a complete tour of the CBS/KCAL Studio.  Kent gave us a complete tour of his news room and explained how everything works.  He put us on camera and took group pictures with him.  Wow, what a wonderful experience.

We also met Ernie Salazar, Special Product Manager for Lexani.  They make custom Lexani Motorcars and Wheels for various vehicles.  He offered PVCA a tour of his facility, so maybe David and Steve can set up a run in the near future to Lexani in Corona.

David and Kimberly then took us to Canter’s Bakery & Deli in Studio City for lunch, very nice, good food and bakery.  FYI, this is Kimberly’s stomping grounds and yes, she is a real “Valley Girl”.

Lastly, Charlie and Carol will try to arrange for someone from SHOES THAT FIT to attend our next general meeting on Dec 13th, so that we can present them with their check for $882.  If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thank you,

Ernie Caraza
PVCA President
