A little History
Since 2003, the Pomona Valley Corvette Association has
hosted an annual car show in Southern California. All
proceeds from this event were donated to the clubs charity.
The theme of the show is an all American car show in tribute
of both the events of 9/11/2001 and of all of our brave
fighting men and women serving our country. Not to mention
that we all love Americas greatest sports car!
The event in 2006 was a big success with over 220 cars hot
rods and Corvette where on display and judged. American
flags were given out to the early arrivals at the show.
Every entry received a event specific canvas goodie bag
filled with more stuff than even we could believe. The
canvas bags work great to carry all your car cleaning stuff
around in. It is really fun to see those bags being pulled
out of trunks or back seats at some of the other shows in
the area.
A silent auction and gift raffle was a big success and
raised over $3000. The club also sold event t-shirts and
event cooler bags to help raise funds for the charities.

The club netted $14,000 for our charities with the help of
everyone who supported us and the event.
Our Charities
Initially, the primary charity was The Painted Turtle, one
of Paul Newmans family of Hole in the Wall Gang Camps for
children with chronic and life threatening illnesses, and
have allowed us to underwrite their fishing and boating
programs in their entirety. To date, more than $75,000 has
been raised. In addition, members participated in a special
project where over 200 stuffed turtle pillows and dozens of
lap quilts were crafted and sewn for the kids.
In 2006 working with Irwindale Speedway the club held what
we hope will be the first annual celebrity auction. Courtney
Hansen of Overhaulin and Spike TV fame was our hostess and
mistress of ceremony. Held at Irwindale Speedway in early
September the club and the Speedway were able to solicit
donations from most of the NASCAR racing teams. These items
were then sold in a silent auction. Items included racing
suits, jackets, racing helmet, crew shirts, posters, hats,
Special ticket packages for the races including the 2007
Long Beach Grand Prix and February 2007 NASCAR race at
Fontana were also auctioned. This special event raised
$2,500 for the kids, a great start to what we hope will be a
growing event.
The car show is held in Historic
Downtown Upland, in Southern California, on a Saturday, in
the fall. The Pomona Valley Corvette Association
invites you to attend this fun-filled car show and help
support our charities for children.
